In April 2019, the Village was awarded the Safe Routes to School Grant for a sidewalk extension along W. Main Street. This project will fill in a gap in existing sidewalk between Cary-Algonquin Road and Briargate Road. Along with the sidewalk extension, the project will include the installation of a pedestrian safety island with warning beacon at Wulff Street. These safety improvements provide students a more accessible route to school without the need to cross at West Main Street at an uncontrolled intersection. The grant funding will pay for 100% of the construction and construction engineering costs.
