Overview
The Village of Cary is committed to promoting awareness and educating residents about emergency preparedness so that you and your family are able to respond to any emergency or disaster situation.
Tornado Sirens
The Village has 7 tornado sirens that are located strategically throughout the community. The location of each siren is designed to provide double coverage, in the event of a mechanical failure. The general location of the tornado sirens are as follows:
- Downtown Cary
- Industrial Area
- Foxford Hills Subdivision
- Crystal Lake Fire Department
- Cary Grove High School
- East Main Street
- Fox Trails Subdivision
Tornado sirens are tested at 10 a.m. on the first Tuesday of every month to ensure they are all working correctly. Tornado sirens are designed to warn individuals who are outside of their home or business to take shelter immediately. If you hear a tornado siren activated at any other time other than the regularly scheduled test, consider the warning real.
ESDA
The Village's Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA) coordinator is Police Chief Patrick M. Finlon.
